Coming in Autumn, a tale from Midsummer

William Shakespeare’s popular tale surrounding the events of the marriage of the Duke of Athens to his bride Hippolyta, the Queen of the Amazons, is set in an enchanted woodland. There, fairies, young lovers and a troupe of actors, who are preparing to perform for the newlyweds-to-be, all coexist.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream is celebrated as one of Shakespeare’s finest comedies, in the old-fashioned sense of the world in that it doesn’t involve a death like tragedy does. It forms one of five plays brought by the Michael Grandage Company, and stars David Walliams and Sheridan Smith as, respectively, Bottom and Titania.
