Nearly 25 years on, and going strong!

Blood Brothers is an epic musical based around the lives and loves of two brothers in 60s Liverpool, separated at birth. The set and the staging cleverly evoke memories of the period and musical contains some real show stopping numbers.

The moral dilemma facing poor pregnant house-keeper Mrs. Johnstone employed as a cleaner by an upper class family who are unable to have children. On having twins she elects to effectively give one of her babies to her wealthy employer, Mrs. Lyons, in order to give the best possible start, financially at least, to both of her boys. The ensuing story unveils the classic nature versus nurture conundrum and the coincidences that draw the two boys together unbeknown that they are brothers. This epic tale follows their path through adolescence and young adulthood with equal measures of heart-warming and heart-wrenching consequences.

I won’t spoil the plot anymore by giving away the many twists and turns but suffice to say this is both comedy and tragedy and one of my favourite musicals of all time that has now been setting the London stage alight for 24 years. Highly recommended!
