The Winter’s Tale is showing at the London Coliseum from Monday 26 February 2017 until Tuesday 14 March 2017.
The Winter’s Tale
English National Opera’s resident composer Ryan Wigglesworth brings a world premiere of The Winter’s Tale to the London Coliseum. This new interpretation of Shakespeare’s classic tale of love, loss and reconciliation is directed by Rory Kinnear, the Olivier Award-winning actor.
The Winter’s Tale is focused on the actions of King Leontes, who, in a jealous rage, causes the deaths of his loving wife Hermione and their young son. As springtime blossoms, the regretful King stands before a statue of Hermione and prays for a miracle of redemption.
The Winter’s Tale’s highly talented cast includes Sophie Bevan, Iain Paterson and Leigh Melrose, international singers whose careers have bloomed under the wing of the ENO. Mezzo-soprano Susan Bickley and former ENO Harewood artist Anthony Gregory also join the stellar cast.
