White Christmas
Make it a Christmas you’ll never forget with Irving Berlin’s classic musical White Christmas.
Aled Jones and Tom Chambers star as two ex-army pals, Bob Wallace and Phil Davis in the West End premiere of this spectacular festive feel-good musical based on the much loved movie classic.
Irving Berlin’s much-loved musical White Christmas is performing at London’s newly refurbished Dominion Theatre from the 8th November 2014 for a strictly limited 8 week season until the 3rd January 2015.
White Christmas tells the story of two ex-army pals as they team up with a pair of sisters to put on a show to save a remote Vermont ski lodge that’s fallen on hard times.
In this romantic comedy musical there are a few misunderstandings and a whole lot of romance making for a magical evening of laughter, tears, breathtaking dance numbers and some of the greatest songs ever written.
A 17-piece orchestra accompanies the cast in some of musical history’s best loved songs, including Let Yourself Go, Sisters, The Best Things Happen When You’re Dancing, Snow, Count Your Blessings, Blue Skies, Love You Didn’t Do Right By Me, How Deep Is The Ocean, I’ve Got My Love To Keep Me Warm and, of course, the title song, White Christmas.
As well as former Strictly Come Dancing contestants Aled Jones and Tom Chambers, White Christmas’s 30-strong cast includes Wendi Peters as Martha, Graham Cole as General Waverley, Rachel Stanley as Betty Haynes and Louise Bowden as Judy Haynes.
Aled Jones said, “I am absolutely delighted to be making my West End musical theatre debut in such a well-loved musical. It is a huge honour to sing Irving Berlin’s wonderful songs, White Christmas, Count Your Blessings, Blue Skies and How Deep is the Ocean, which are so synonymous with the great Bing Crosby. And I’m looking forward to sharing Strictly Come Dancing stories with Tom – I taught him everything he knows!”
Tom Chambers, who recently starred in Top Hat at the Aldwych in London’s West End said, “I am thrilled to be joining the cast of White Christmas this November in the fantastic venue that is the Dominion Theatre. It’ll be great to be back in the West End again, and at such a special time of year, performing in such an incredibly magical and iconic show. I’m a huge fan of Irving Berlin’s music and it’ll be a great pleasure to be back in my tap shoes again. And to top it off it’ll be fabulous to be starring alongside the multi-talented Aled Jones.”
The stage musical in London’s West End is based on the timeless movie classic which starred Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney and Vera Ellen.
White Christmas has music and lyrics by Irving Berlin and a book by David Ives and Paul Blake. The show in London is directed by Morgan Young and choreographed by Randy Skinner, with Helen Rymer as the UK associate choreographer. Set design is by Anna Louizos, costumes by Carrie Robbins, lighting by Ken Billington and sound by Clem Rawling.
