Skylight show description
David Hare’s play Skylight won the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Play in 1996. It is now playing at the Wyndham’s theatre in London for a strictly limited season from the 6th June to the 23rd August, with the opening gala night scheduled for the 18th June 2014.
Starring Bill Nighy and directed by Stephen Daldry, Skylight was originally produced at the National theatre in 1995.
On a bitterly cold London evening East London school teacher Kyra Hollis is visited unexpectedly on the same night by former lover Tom Sargeant and his son Edward. Tom is a successful and charismatic restaurateur whose wife has recently died. Kyra had been living with the Sargeant family years earlier, but left after her affair with Tom was discovered by Tom’s wife. Edward now accuses Kyra of having left him as well, and he demands to know why she left his life.
As the evening progresses, the Kyra and Tom attempt to rekindle their once passionate relationship only to find themselves locked in a dangerous battle of opposing ideologies and mutual desires. It becomes clear that their chances of romance rest on whether one of them can change their preconceived notions of the other.
Bill Nighy, stars as Tom Sargeant. Bill’s extensive film credits include Pirates of the Caribbean, Love Actually, Notes on a Scandal and The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and whose stage roles include Pravda and the world premiere of David Hare’s The Vertical Hour on Broadway.

Skylight is directed by award-winning director Stephen Daldry who recently directed the sell-out West End production of The Audience and whose previous stage work also includes An Inspector Calls and Billy Elliott the Musical.
