Speed The Plow – Show Description
From Disney child-star to wild-child celebrity, sometime film actress and someone that fills more gossip column inches than most, Lindsay Lohn is now treading the boards in London’s West End in David Mahmet’s stage play Speed-The-Plow.
Lindsay Lohan plays Karen, a temporary secretary to film producers Bobby Gould and Charlie Fox. Bobby and Charlie are convinced they are on to a sure-fire winner when a hugely bankable star agrees to appear in their new film.
That is until Karen derails their dream, when she persuades Bobby to dump the blockbuster in favour of a story which can only be described as box-office poison, So Charlie is forced to resort to desperate measures.
Speed-The-Plow is a brilliant satirical portrayal of Hollywood by David Mamet, the foremost playwright of his generation and the author of Glengarry Glen Ross, Oleanna and American Buffalo.
Speed-The-Plow is filled with Mamet’s trademark wit and mesmerising dialogue and moves at a pace to keep you fully engaged through out.
The multi award-winning film actress Lindsay Lohan takes her first ever stage role as Karen, a part which was originally played in New York in 1988 by Madonna.
Lindsay Lohan’s films include Disney’s The Parent Trap, Herbie: Fully Loaded and Freaky Friday, Mean Girls, Robert Altman’s A Prairie Home Companion and Emilio Estevez’s Bobby. She has appeared in the TV series Ugly Betty and starred as Elizabeth Taylor in the biographical TV film Liz & Dick.
The show in London is directed by Lindsay Posner.
Speed-The-Plow is performing at the Playhouse Theatre from the 24th September to the 29th November 2014.
