It has been announced that Jennifer DiNoia will replace Kerry Ellis in one of the most popular shows ever to grace the West End. From Monday 27 October 2014 Jennifer DiNoia will join the Wicked crew in the West End playing the green-skinned Elphaba Thropp. DiNoia will perform in the highly acclaimed West End show at the Apollo Victoria Theatre for a limited 14-week period until Saturday 31 January 2015.
Jennifer DiNoia has already been involved with the smash hit musical for a staggering eight years in North America and on an international stage.
Well-acquainted with Wicked on an international scene
Having been dancing since the age of three, Jennifer DiNoia has always known she wanted to be on stage. Jennifer landed her dream role playing an “Elphaba standby” at the Chicago Company and immediately went on to make her Broadway debut at the New York Company.
Asides playing the iconic witch in the US, Jennifer has performed as Elphaba in Sydney and Seoul.
In a press statement Jennifer DiNoia talked of her excitement about performing on the West End.
“I am so honoured and excited to be making my West End and UK debut in this incredible role that has been part of my life and career for eight extraordinary years. I look forward to working with Savannah Stevenson and the amazing London company.”
Savannah Stevenson will continue to play Glinda, the beautiful Good Witch of the South who is the most powerful sorceress of Oz. Jennifer will also join Martyn Ellis as The Wizard, Jeremy Taylor as Fiyero, Liza Sadovy as Madame Morrible, Sam Lupton as Boq, Kate Rowley Jones as Nessarose and Philip Childs as Doctor Dillamond.
The 10th longest-running show in the West End
The award-winning Wicked does of course need little introduction. Having opened in the West End in 2006, Wicked has been one of the biggest success stories of London theatre and is now the tenth longest-running show in the West End. Such is Wicked’s popularity and success on the West End, it was recently dubbed as “one of the country’s strongest and most enduring popular shows.”
