Hold onto your seats and prepare to be beguiled: Horrible Histories: Barmy Britain Part 3 is coming to the Garrick Theatre

on

Clap along to the craziness of King Charles, look Admiral Nelson in the eye, find out whether King John will be a martyr for the Magna Carta, and flee the horror of the First World War, all in just 60 minutes…

Barmy Britain Part 3 will play at the Garrick Theatre this summer

Only the much-loved and highly successful Horrible Histories can make such a wide spectrum of Britain’s incredible history fun, beguiling, grisly and thoroughly entertaining.

Following the success of Horrible Histories: Barmy Britain Parts 1 and 2, which were sell-out hits, Part 3 is coming to the Garrick Theatre in 2015.

A fun and wild depiction of Britain’s compelling past

This 60-minute gallop through Britain’s colourful and compelling history is based on Terry Deary’s children books and popular TV series shown on CBBC, Horrible Histories.

As theatre critic Lyn Gardner wrote in her review of the first of the Barmy Britain trilogy in 2012, “If Michael Gove really wants British schoolchildren to develop an enthusiasm for history, then Deary’s books would be a good place to start, because cunningly wrapped around the dull stuff are the things you really want to know.”

And the stage adaptations of the popular books are, by all accounts, no exception.

Part 2 brought us Boudicca battles, the evil Queen Elizabeth, Kind Charles’ head and partying with Queen Victorian. Part 3 covers equally absorbing chapters from Britain’s tumultuous past, including partying with the Puritans, being lit up by the Great Fire of London, escaping from the terror of the First World War, amongst many other gory yet fascinating incidents that ensures Britain’s past is as colourful as it is!

Awakening the dead

It’s history with all the gore and splendour left in, as Britain’s most celebrated figures from the past awaken from the dead!

Horrible Histories: Barmy Britain Part 3 is written and directed by Neal Foster. Foster also performs in the show alongside Anthony Spargo.

This enthralling depiction of the very best – and sometimes nastiest – of Britain’s history will run at the Garrick Theatre from Saturday 25 July 2015 until Saturday 5 September 2015.

This 60 minutes of historical mayhem is suitable for audiences of age six and upwards.
