Following a craze of great reviews in Australia and New Zealand, Bill Bailey’s Limboland is coming to the UK, including a spell at London’s Vaudeville Theatre.
The comic show traces the gap between how people imagine their lives to be and how they actually are.
The well-known English actor, comedian, musician and author, utilises his emblematic sharp wit and intelligence as he articulates stories set in the halfway word of fantasy and reality.
Bailey’s Limboland sees the comedian narrate endless travels from around the world with hilarious results. One particularly funny story is centred on a family holiday to Norway to experience the Northern Lights. Like the most memorable of holidays, the Norway trip involves a number of calamities and is deemed as disastrous!
As Bill Bailey hilariously contemplates the true meaning of happiness, the crux of Limboland’s message is human beings’ tendency to waft along in a world that fails to live up to our expectations. Bailey theorises that it is our perpetual restlessness that has led to a hunger for “political crystal meth”, as bored citizens crave short-term excitement and the “ultimate destructiveness of reactionary governments”.
Being a keen musician and heavily influenced by music, no Bill Bailey show would be complete without being accompanied with a barrage of compelling music. Consequently, Limboland incorporates a poignant Country and Western ballad played on a Bible, a superbly unpretentious version of Happy Birthday, and Bill’s own style of the protest song – with hilarious results.
On its tour in Australia and New Zealand, Bill Bailey’s Limboland received great reviews, dubbed as being “consistently funny and dazzlingly quick”.
As part of its UK tour, the “pretty much unmissable” show is coming to the Vaudeville Theatre from Monday 14 December 2015 until Sunday 10 January 2016.
