With mistaken identities, confusion and pure slapstick, The Painkiller is centred on two men, two lonely hotel rooms and one adjoining door. One of the men is a killer and one wants to die. What will be the outcome?
This hilarious adaptation Francis Veber’s classic French play stars Kenneth Branagh and Rob Brydon. Both highly acclaimed actors reprise the roles that brought them much applause at the Lyric Theatre in Belfast.
The Painkiller is part of a series of plays put on by Kenneth Branagh’s own company, the Kenneth Branagh Theatre Company.
The series, titled Plays, sees Branagh work in collaboration with director Rob Ashford and designer Christopher Oram. A group of incredible actors are starring in the five plays, including Judi Dench, Rob Brydon, Richard Madden and Lily James.
