Hetty Feather show description

In the wake of a sell-out run in 2014 on the West End and a 2015 Olivier Award nomination for Best Family and Entertainment, renowned children’s author Jaqueline Wilson, famous for CBBC’s Tracey Beaker, is bringing her other creation Hetty Feather to London’s the Duke of York’s theatre.

The strictly limited season includes a total of 40 performances of the play centred on the plucky Hetty Feather at the Duke of York’s Theatre this summer.

Bestselling author Jaqueline Wilson stated “I am so thrilled that Hetty Feather has become a stage play! I’ve written exactly one hundred books but Hetty Feather is my number one top favourite!”

The tale of the fearless Hetty Feather is brought thrillingly to life on stage as she escapes from the Foundling Hospital and the terrifying Matron Stinking Bottomly. The adventure continues as Hetty discovers the squirrel house and Tanglefields Travelling Circus and endures a frightening night locked in the attic.

Hetty’s brave quest takes her to the scary streets of Victorian London and ultimately ends in happiness and exultation as she overcomes all in the search to find her real mother and a true family of her own.

It has been confirmed that Phoebe Thomas will reprise her role as Hetty Feather in this enchanting, exciting and wonderful children’s play. The highly talented cast also includes Matt Costain as Jem/Matron Bottomly, Sarah Goddard as Peg/Ida, Nikki Warwick playing Madame Adeline, Isaac Stanmore as Saul and Paul Mundell playing Gideon.

The stage adaptation has been written by award-winning script writer Emma Reeves and directed by the Olivier Award Nominated director Sally Cookson, whose previous theatre credits include Peter Pan, We’re Going on a Bear Hunt and Stick Man.

With an original musical score by Benji Bower, circus skills and a huge heart, Hetty Feather is a terrific adventure story and a firm family favourite.

The perfect treat for the whole family.
