Miss Saigon will wave goodbye to the West End in early 2016

The West End revival of the hit musical Miss Saigon has announced it will be closing its final curtain on 27 February 2016 

Miss Saigon announces its final extension at the Prince Edward Theatre 

The multi-award winning production of the epic love story returned to the West End in May 2014, after a 15-year absence. Currently playing at the Prince Edward Theatre, the musical announced it has extended its booking period for the final time.

A record-breaking musical 

Cameron Mackintosh’s acclaimed production of Claude-Michel Schonberg and Alain Boublil’s classic musical, is the winner of a record-breaking nine Whatsonstage Awards 2015, including Best Show.

On announcing the final extension and closing date of the much-loved musical, Cameron Mackintosh said:

“I’m delighted to announce a final extension of my hugely successful new production of Miss Saigon at the Prince Edward Theatre.”

“This record-breaking and award-winning production is already repeating its success in Japan and Korea and is planned to open in Germany, Australia and Broadway in the next two years,” Mackintosh continued.

Original stars will lead the show

The final extension will see the production’s original stars, Eva Noblezada and Jon Jon Briones, continue to lead the incredible international cast that have played a leading role in the multi-award winning success of Miss Saigon.

This classic musical is set in the 1970s against the backdrop of the Vietnam War. The story explores the relationship between a young Vietnamese bargirl and an American GI. The original production of Miss Saigon premiered in the West End in 1989 where it ran for ten years.

If you’ve not yet seen this highly-celebrated revival of the moving musical based on Puccini’s opera Madame Butterfly, you have got until February 27, 2016 to do so.
