Show Description – Mrs Henderson Presents

After enjoying a sell-out run at the Theatre Royal in Bath, Mrs Henderson Presents is showing at the Noel Coward Theatre. Featuring a book and direction by Terry Johnson, the musical adaptation is based on the 2005 film that starred Bob Hoskins and Judi Dench.

Based on the true story of Laura Henderson, the play is set in 1937 in London where the eccentric and recently-widowed Mrs Henderson is drawn to a run-down former cinema. Investing her money into the cinema, Henderson and her newly hired feisty impresario present a bill of variety acts. Though with the war looming, something more is required – enter The Windmills Girls and their nudity – unsurprisingly, audiences flock!

Both Tracie Bennett and Emma Williams will reprise their roles in the West End transfer as Laura Henderson and Maureen respectively. Ian Bartholomew will return as the feisty impresario Vivian Van Damm.
