Starring the Grammy and Emmy Award-winning Audra McDonald, who is making a long-awaited debut on the West End, Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar and Grill promises to take London audiences on a thrilling journey of the inspirational life of Billie Holiday.

Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar and Grill is set in 1959 in an intimate bar in Philadelphia, where the legendary jazz singer Billie Holiday mesmerises the crowd with her poignant voice and incredible songs. The show features a moving score, including ‘Strange Fruit’, ‘Crazy He Calls Me’, ‘God Bless the Child’, amongst others.

Since opening on Broadway in 2014, Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar and Grill has been an incredible success, receiving two nominations for the 2014 Outer Critics Circle Awards.

Audra McDonald’s performance as Billie Holiday was met with great acclaim, described by critics as “one of the most exquisite and haunting performances of the year.”
