Michael Grandage Company: A Season of Five Plays. Starring Daniel Radcliffe.
The year is 1934. The place is Inishmore – one of the tiny Aran Islands off the western Irish coast. It will be the setting for the filming of Man of Aran, an American-led docufiction about life on the islands.
The excitement at the presence of a Hollywood film crew reaches the neighbouring island of Inishmaan, and one local dreams of a part in the film. Despite being an outcast to the community, Billy Claven, known as “Cripple”, lands a role – much to everyone’s surprise.
