Michael Grandage Company: A Season of Five Plays. Starring Jude Law.
Originally titled The Chronicle History of Henry the Fifth, the play is the fourth instalment in Shakespeare’s quartet of ‘histories’ – following Richard II and Henry IV parts one and two, where his character was introduced as the young and reckless Prince Harry.
Henry V has just ascended the throne, and must overcome the reputation of his wild past, in order to gain the trust and loyalty of the realm, which has endured several recent civil wars. The play follows his campaign to conquer France, which climaxes at the Battle of Agincourt.
Please note, latecomers to performances of Henry V will STRICTLY not be admitted to the auditorium until the interval. The performance can be watched on a screen in the bar until the interval instead.
