The Girls Boarding school Rye St Antony in Oxford will be the first school production of the We Will Rock You musical.
The show is being performed by the girl pupils from years 8 to 12 and they are expecting a full house and that We Will Rock You tickets will sell out.
The We Will Rock You musical in London is produced by Queen Theatrical Productions, Phil McIntyre Entertainment and Tribeca Theatrical Productions, the show opened at the Dominion Theatre in London’s West End in May 2002, and the show has been running there ever since. We Will Rock You has also had international success, playing to full houses all over the world and is soon to embark on the first stadium tour with tickets expected to be somewhat more expensive but no less sought after than tickets for We Will Rock You at Rye St Antony school.
The We Will Rock You 10th Anniversary World Arena Tour kicks off in March 2013 at Nottingham Trent Arena with Australian rock singer and actor MiG Ayesa starring as Galileo.
MiG moved to London from Sydney in 2001 and formed a working relationship with Queen guitarist and We Will Rock You producer, Brian May. Brian worked on a musical collaboration with MiG’s band Mignition. MiG Ayesa has already played Galileo in We Will Rock You in London back in in 2003 and also on a previous international. tour. MiG’s other musical theatre credits include starring as Angel in Rent, Danny Zuko in Grease and Stacee Jaxx in the Rock of Ages US Tour and on Broadway.
In December 2011 he returned to London to reprise his role in Thriller Live at the Lyric theatre in the West End and in May 2012 he returned to the Philippines to reprise his role as Stacee Jaxx in a completely new production of Rock of Ages, which proved a hot ticket.
Other casting for the world arena tour of We Will Rock You includes former Coronation Street actor, Kevin Kennedy and X-Factor finalist and Chicago star, Brenda Edwards reprising their roles of Pop and Killer Queen from the London show. X Factor finalist Lucie Jones is Meat and Lauren Samuels will return to the role of Scaramouche. Khashoggi will be played by Sean Kingsley.
Kevin and Brenda are currently starring in the West End show at the Dominion Theatre in London and will join the UK leg of the world tour. For the remainder of the We Will Rock You World Arena tour, which goes to the O2 Arena in Dublin when it leaves the UK, Pop will be played by Rob Castell with Jenna Lee James as Killer Queen.
The world tour will visit arenas in Finland, Denmark, Holland, Luxembourg, Czech Republic, Turkey, Bulgaria and Ireland in 2013. Further dates in Japan, South Africa, New Zealand and Australia will be announced shortly.
