Extra tickets go on sale for The Lion King in London
Disney’s The Lion King, a truly spectacular musical, at the Lyceum Theatre in London has announced ticket sales extending in to 2014. Such is the continuing popularity of the show that it is wise to book ahead so as to avoid disappointment, particularly at weekends and school holiday periods proving to be especially popular.
The show in London can now be booked right through to 5th January 2014.
Extra matinees have also been announced at 2.30 from the 24th December on most days through to the 5th January, save for Christmas day when there are no performances, Boxing Day the 26th December and Friday 3rd January when there are Evening shows at 7.30 p.m. only.
The Lion King musical in London
Understandably the The Lion King has tremendous appeal to families and is suitable for all ages, and is a particular favourite for younger children. Tickets always sell out at Christmas time as the enduring tale of Simba and his rise to become the Lion King is a firm favourite.
The Lion King is now in its 13th hit year and people are still flocking to see it. Based on the Disney animated film of the same name, it is truly a wonderful story, with good ultimately triumphing over evil. Loosely based on Shakespeare’s Hamlet the story follow the adventures of Simba the Lion Cub as he deals with his father’s death, the subsequent betrayal by his Uncle Scar and flees from the Pridelands in disgrace. The musical follows his journey through many adventures and the comical characters he meets against the stunning backdrop of the African Savannah artfully re-created by amazing scenery and set design.
The costumes are colourful and brilliant and use African influences along with sensational puppetry.
The music and score used in the Lion King has been fused together using many different influences from African tribal music through to power ballads and magical love songs written by Elton John and Tim Rice, including the award-winning songs ‘Can You Feel The Love Tonight’ and ‘The Circle of Life’.
