An American in Paris musical coming to the Dominion theatre in London

An American in Paris the critically acclaimed musical on Broadway is coming to the Dominion theatre in London’s West End.

Winner of four Tony Awards, An American in Paris is currently playing to packed audiences at the Palace Theatre in New York where it opened in April 2015.

The show is heading to London’s West End and is opening at the Dominion theatre on the 4th March 2017. Tickets for An American in Paris are now on sale.

An American in Paris the musical is inspired by the 1951 Oscar winning film of the same name. The show includes classic songs from George and Ira Gershwin, including “I Got Rhythm”, “Liza”, “‘S Wonderful”, “But Not For Me”, “Stairway to Paradise”, as well as orchestral music including “Concerto in F”, “2nd Prelude”, “2nd Rhapsody”, “Cuban Overture”, and the title song, An American in Paris.

An American in Paris is a romantic love story. After the end of World War Two an American soldier, Jerry Mulligan, decides to stay in Paris and pursue his passion for painting. Beguiled by a mysterious girl and with a little help from kindred spirits Adam Hochberg, a composer and fellow veteran; and Henri Baurel, the son of wealthy French industrialists and wannabe song and dance man, they imagine a brighter future.

Jerry eventually meets the mysterious girl, a stunning French ballerina named Lise Dassin. He is smitten, however, he then discovers that she is the very same woman Adam and he have been encouraging Henri to propose to.

The backdrop is the romance and vibrancy of Paris and the art scene exploding with new life and post-war energy encapsulated by an enthusiastic and impressive cast of 25 singers, actors and dancers.

Lise struggles to choose between her suitors as each man comes to terms with his own fate. It is truly a bewitching and enchanting musical with romance very much in the air.
