From the 18th February, television and West End star Jennifer Ellison joins Adam Cooper in the award-winning hit show in London Singin’ in the Rain at the Palace theatre.

Jennifer will star as silent movie screen siren, and owner of a voice never meant for the ‘talkies’, Lina Lamont.

Jennifer said: “Singin’ in the Rain is one of my absolute favourite movie musicals, I watched it a lot growing up! When I saw this production, I left with the biggest grin on my face and a huge spring in my step. Playing Lina Lamont at the Palace Theatre is pretty much as good as it gets.”

Jennifer shot to fame in the Liverpool based T.V. soap Brookside played Emily Shadwick from 1998 to 2003. Then in 2004 she appeared on Gordon Ramsey’s Hell’s Kitchen T.V. series, which she won. This victory on a cooking programme strange but true, propelled Jennifer on to the London stage.

Jennifer starred in the London West End theatre version of the musical Chicago in 2004 at the Adelphi Theatre in the leading role of Roxie Hart. Ticket sales went through the roof, such was the demand to see Jennifer Ellison in the flesh at the theatre. Which begs the question were all these cooking fans thinking ‘I’d love her to win this show, so as she can go on to star in a West End Musical as I’d love to see her in stockings and suspenders’ or is there some more obvious point I am missing?
