The revival of “Hedda Gabler” at London’s Old Vic Theatre sees Sheridan Smith landing the title role of Hedda Gabler in the musical. Playing this character sees a change in direction for the previous star of “Legally Blonde The Musical” for which she won a Laurence Olivier Award.
Smith will be taking on one of the great dramatic stage roles for women, and has been dubbed the “female Hamlet” by theatre critics. In the production, Hedda, the daughter of an aristocratic general who is married to a man she doesn’t love, is a complex character providing contrasting audience interpretations.
The production will be directed by Anna Mackmin with previews commencing from 5th September 2012. The show will then open on 12th September for a limited season until 5th November.
“Hedda Gabler” is sure to be a sell-out show especially with a limited season… better get in there quick!
