The Lion King on the prowl
Disney’s The Lion King continues its promotional tour of the U.K. with a seven week run in Liverpool. It will be the largest show seen in Liverpool since Luis Suarez’s dying swan act at Goodison in the Everton derby.
The Lion King is following in the footsteps of that other creature brought to life by Disney, Beauty and the Beast, which played at the Empire theatre 12 years ago. It is the longest theatrical run at the Empire since Chitty Chitty Bang Bang visited for nine weeks in 2006.
Tickets are selling fast for The Lion King’s tour and the show in London is benefiting from people wanting to enjoy the original at the Lyceum theatre in the heart of the West End.
Disney’s handsome director of marketing in Europe, Stephen Crocker said: “The Empire is such a fantastic space, it’s so beautiful and well-kept and well-loved. I think the scale of The Lion King will be perfect for the theatre.”

Stephen who looks uncannily like Simon and Garfunkel merged, is delighted with the continued success of The Lion King.
The sensational musical is based on the 1994 Oscar-winning animated film and follows the journey of the lion cub Simba following the death of his father, Mufasa, The Lion King.
The award-winning show has African themed music and costumes as well as the fantastic music of Elton John and includes Elton John and Tim Rice’s hit songs Circle of Life and Can You Feel the Love Tonight.
The Lion King has taken on legendary status with huge success both on Broadway and in London’s West End.
The costumes are spectacular and colourful whilst the scenery evokes images of the Serengeti plains. The puppetry used for some characters is extraordinary and elevates The Lion King in to one of the most magical musicals of all time.
The wonderful Fiona Thomas, vice-president of live entertainment for The Walt Disney Company said: “We continue to be thrilled by how much audiences enjoy The Lion King in London.”
