War Horse put out to grass.
Joey, the life-sized horse puppet used in War Horse the show in London has been donated to the Victoria and Albert Museum.
The incredibly realistic puppet is operated in the show at the New London theatre by three puppeteers and mannequins will be used in the display at the V and A museum, famous for exhibitions celebrating the best of design and fashion. The puppets were created by the Handspring Puppet Company from Cape Town, and were first used in the War Horse production at the Royal National theatre prior to the play’s transfer to the New London theatre. The puppet donated is the original Joey used at the New London theatre, its predecessor having collapsed, as they were not built to last.
