The X-Factor about to bite back at We Will Rock You

News reaches our ears that life is about to imitate art.

With We Will Rock You gently, or perhaps not so gently, mocking Simon Cowell and the X Factor and manufactured music over the years, the buzz-cut one has joined forces with the bald one to bite back.

Simon Cowell is teaming up with Harry Hill in the most unlikely of double acts.

The creator, brains, driving force and recipient of large wads of cash behind T.V.’s hugely successful show, The X Factor, Simon Cowell, has given his approval for his hit T.V. singing competition to be staged in the London theatre. Expect audience participation on a large karaoke scale.

The show in London is imaginatively called ‘X Factor: It’s Time To Face The Musical!’ and is expected to arrive in London’s West End theatreland in 2014.

Syco Entertainment, Cowell’s joint venture with Sony Music, is teaming up with Stage Entertainment UK, producers of Singin’ in the Rain, the hit musical that has recently announced its closure at the Palace theatre in London. The partners recently announced plans to bring a musical based on the T.V. singing contest to the stage in 2014.

X Factor – It’s Time To Face The Musical! will be an “affectionate poke” at the X-Factor say the show’s creators, and we presume Simon Cowell too will not escape being poked. Although judging by the amount of botox Simon has been pumped with don’t expect too much of a reaction.

The show is being written by British comedian Harry Hill, famous for introducing T.V.’s ‘You’ve been Framed’ and his own hugely successful T.V. comedy series, Harry Hill’s Burp. Music will be by Steve Brown and the musical will be directed by Sean Foley.

I wonder if the show will seek to poke fun at We Will Rock You in a tit for tat battle of sarcasm? No doubt Ben Elton has sharpened his pencil in anticipation.

We Will Rock You is written by another British comedian, Ben Elton (The Young Ones and Thin Blue Line amongst others to his credit), and features over 30 of Queen’s greatest hits. We Will Rock You is in its 11th year at the Dominion theatre in London. A record for this venue. Book We Will Rock You cheap tickets now.
