Alan Ayckbourn’s classic tale of marital calamities, clumsy love affairs and personal misunderstandings is being revived for the West End this spring

Alan Ackbourn’s admired comedy is coming to the Theatre Royal Haymarket in March

Produced by leading West End producer Bill Kenwright and directed by acclaimed director Alan Strachan, this new production of one of Alan Ayckbourn’s most celebrated comedies has all the ingredients to once again be a huge hit on the London stage.

When it premiered at the Lyric Theatre on the West End in 1970, How the Other Half Loves was met with great acclaim. Such was the play’s popularity that it ran for an incredible 869 performances in London and became the first of Ackbourn’s plays to head to Broadway.

This major revival will see the farcical Bob and Fiona clumsily attempt to cover-up their affair, which becomes considerably messier when their spouses intervene.

With two disastrous dinner parties, personal misfortunes, the future of three couples in serious jeopardy, not to mention bags of hilarity, expect to laugh out loud at this new production of one of Ackbourn’s most popular plays.

How the Other Half Loves is showing at the Theatre Royal Haymarket from 23 March until 25 June, 2016.
