As the arrival of the highly anticipated West End production of Beautiful – The Carole King Musical edges closer the complete casting has been announced…
Katie Brayben will star as Carole King
Ian McIntosh will play songwriter Barry Mann. McIntosh will join Katie Brayben who is playing the title role in the musical. Katie Brayben is currently playing Princess Diana in King Charles III at the Wyndham Theatre.
Brayben and McIntosh will star alongside a highly talented cast including Alan Morrissey as Carole King’s husband and song writing partner Gerry Goffin, Gary Trainor as music producer and publisher Don Kirsher, Lorna Want as songwriter Cynthia Weil and Glynis Barber as Genie Klein.
Playing the many iconic band members of the era will be Ed Currie, Vivien Cater, Tanya Nicole-Edwards, Fela Lufadeju, Jay Perry, Terel Nugent. Lucy St. Louis, Tanisha Spring, Dylan Turner, Danielle Steers and Joanna Woodwood.
The show’s ensemble members include Jason Denton, Andy COxon, Joel Harper-Jackson, Michael Anthony Duke, Aisha Jawando, Rosie Heath, Leigh Lothian and Hannah Jay-Allan.
An untold and beautiful story
Beautiful – The Carole King Musical is centred on the early life and career of Carole King, the legendary American singer and songwriter. King’s career began in the 1960s. With her then husband, Gerry Goffin, they went on to write more than a dozen chart hits for numerous artists. It was in the 1970s when King became a performer in her own right, going on to win four Grammy Awards.
Beautiful – The Carole King Musical traces the untold story of King’s fascinating journey to global stardom. It follows her relationship with Gerry Goffin and their friendship with fellow song writing duo Cynthia Weil and Barry Mann.
Featuring Carole King classics
The talented cast of 26 will be backed up by an orchestra of 12 playing many classic Carole King numbers, including It Might As Well Rain Until September, So Far Away and Take Good Care of my Baby.
