Lara Pulver will reprise her role as Louise and Peter Davison will join the rest of the cast in the West End transfer of Gypsy

Lara Pulver and Peter Davison will play at the Savoy Theatre

Both stars will join Imelda Staunton who will play the indomitable Mamma Rose in the London transfer of the sell-out Chichester Festival Theatre production of Gypsy.

Lara Pulver played alongside Imelda Staunton in last year’s production of Gypsy. Now Peter Davison will be joining the star-studded line-up as Herbie.

Herbie was played by Kevin Whately in Chichester last year.

A dazzling revival

This “dazzling revival” of Gypsy has enjoyed fantastic reviews, with Imelda Staunton’s performance as Mamma Rose being described as a “knock-out”, featuring “show-stopping” choreography from Stephen Mear.

Gypsy is based on true life memoirs made by Gypsy Rose Lee, an iconic burlesque entertainer. ‘Momma Rose’s’ memoirs tell the story of herself and her two daughters journeying across America in their family vaudeville act.

Times however are changing and as her daughters have their own agendas, things don’t go quite to plan for the ambitious Momma Rose.

An inspiring musical tale

This compelling musical fable has music by Jule Styne, lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and a book by Arthur Laurents.

Considered by many as the “greatest of the Broadway musicals,” this moving and glittering production of Gypsy is the first time it has come to London in 40 years.

Directed by Jonathan Kent, Gypsy will run at the Savoy Theatre from March 28, 2015.
