The much-loved comedian is coming to the Apollo
From December 1, 2014 the Never Mind the Buzzcocks star will replace Simon Paisley Day as the autocratic Caldwell B Cladwell.
Asides becoming a household name by starring in Never Mind the Buzzcocks, Phill Jupitus has a string of stage credits to his name, including playing King Arthur in Spamalot on a UK and Ireland tour, starring in White Rabbit Red Rabbit at the Edinburgh Traverse Theatre and a achieving a critically-acclaimed performance of Edna Turnblad in Hairspray at the Shaftesbury Theatre, amongst other compelling stage performances.
Julie Jupp and Alasdair Buchan will also join the Urinetown cast
November 29th will not only be Simon Paisley Day’s last performance in the hit production but it will also be the last chance to catch Jenna Russell and Marc Elliot in their high acclaimed roles of Penelope Pennywise and Mr McQueen. Julie Jupp and Alasdair Buchan, the original Urinetown cast members, will stepping into the shoes of Penelope Pennywise and Mr. McQueen.
Earlier this year the satirical musical comedy, which was a sell-out sensation at the St James Theatre, arrived at the Apollo Theatre in the West End.
Directed by the award-winning director Jamie Lloyd, whose best-known theatre credentials are The Commitments and Richard III, this sharp-witted satirical show tracks the story of a town which is virtually ready to burst.
