It has been announced that Pixie Lott will star in a new stage adaptation of Breakfast at Tiffany’s, which will run at the Theatre Royal Haymarket from 2016

Pixie Lott to play good-time girl Holly Golightly

The multi-award winning playwright Richard Greenberg, whose impressive honours include being a Pulitzer Prize-winning finalist and winner of a Tony and Olivier Award, has adapted Truman Capote’s 1958 novella for the stage.

A romantic comedy masterpiece

Based on Capote’s epic masterpiece, Breakfast at Tiffany’s is set in New York in 1943, where a young writer called Fred falls in love with the charismatic good-time girl from the country, Holly Golightly.

Holly captures the hearts of many, so how can the poor young writer realistically compete with the elusive party girl’s more affluent suitors in New York, including a playboy millionaire and the future president of Brazil?

As war intensifies in Europe, Holly begins to fall in love with young Fred, as her past starts to catch up with her.

When the classic novella was made into an American romantic comedy in 1961, it made a global star out of Audrey Hepburn.

Greenberg’s theatrical version of Breakfast at Tiffany’s first opened in New York in 2013, starring Emilia Clarke as Holly Golightly.

Pixie Lott’s West End debut

The role will mark Pixie Lott’s West End debut. The English singer, songwriter and actress, boasts a successful pop career that includes several number one singles.

Lott shared her excitement of debuting on the West End as Holly Golightly, saying:

“I am so exciting to play Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany’s in my first West End play. I absolutely love Holly’s style, and free spirit; she has always been an icon to me and I can’t wait to bring my own personality to the role.”

Richard Greenberg spoke of the new theatrical production of Breakfast at Tiffany’s:

“The goal of this version is to return to the original setting of the novella, which is the New York of the Second World War, as well as to resume its tone – still stylish and romantic, yes, but rougher-edged and more candid than people generally remember.”

Breakfast at Tiffany’s will be produced by Nikolai Foster, who described the casting of Pixie Lott as “absolutely electrifying.”

Following a UK tour the play will settle at the Theatre Royal Haymarket from 30 June 2016.
