Preparations are heating up for the arrival of the highly anticipated hilarious musical Mrs Henderson Presents, based on the much-loved 2005 film that starred Bob Hoskins and Dame Judi Dench

Tracie Bennett as the eccentric Mrs Henderson

Stars of the show Emma Williams and Tracie Bennett recently visited Abbey Road Studios to record two songs for the forthcoming production.

Mrs Henderson Presents is making its West End debut in February 2016 at the Noel Coward Theatre, following a critically-acclaimed and sell-out run at the Theatre Royal Bath.

Set in London in 1937, the plot is centred on Laura Henderson, a rather eccentric character who has been recently widowed and is searching for ways to spend both her time and money.

After acquiring and doing up the Windmill Theatre, Mrs Henderson breathes new life into the venue by hiring the feisty promoter Vivian Van Damm, to produce a constant line of variety acts.

As war looms and morale is threatened, the savvy eccentric Mrs Henderson invents a way to craft light-heartedness and optimism into troubled times – The Windmills Girls, a group of glamorous young women posing as nude statues.

Naturally audiences congregate in their droves!

The fabulous Tracie Bennett steps into the shoes of the eccentric Mrs Henderson’, alongside Olivier-nominated Emma Williams who stars as Maureen and Olivier-nominated Ian Bartholomew who reprises his role of Vivian Van Damm.

With a book and direction by the Tony Award-winning Terry Johnson, Andrew Wright responsible for the choreography, lyrics by multi-award winning Don Black, alongside music by Simon Chamberlain and George Fenton, Mrs Henderson Presents promises to bring plenty of cheer to the Noel Coward Theatre in February.
