The magical story of the Gruffalo’s adventures with a little brown mouse in a deep dark wood is coming to the London stage in 2015
Enchanting adventures starring a monster and a mouse
Since it was first published in 1999, the award-winning story about a loveable monster and his journey through the forest with a mouse, has continued to enthral children and adults around the world.
Created by British author Julia Donaldson and illustrator Axel Scheffler, The Gruffalo became the most successful author and illustrator partnership in picture book publishing.
Eccentric woodland creatures
The story takes children on an adventure meeting an eccentric old Owl, a wheeler-dealer Fox, and party-loving Snake. Whilst the mouse can scare the hungry creatures away with stories about a fearless Gruffalo, what happens when the monster comes face to face with the animals?
As well as being a story time favourite, the Gruffalo and his friend the mouse have become stars of the stage and the screen.
From Poland to Singapore, Broadway to Australia and just about everywhere in between, since the stage adaptation of The Gruffalo premiered in 2001, it has been performed around the globe.
Songs, fun and laughter
This year the magical adventure is coming to the West End where you can expect songs, clapping, fun and laughter.
The stage adaptation of The Gruffalo has been described as an ideal introduction for pre-schoolers and primary school children to the theatre.
The Gruffalo is suitable for children aged three and above and, of course, their grownups!
The dates and venue of The Gruffalo at the West End have yet to be announced.
