The wait is over: Full casting announced for The Audience at the Apollo Theatre

The highly-awaited announcement of who will play the prime ministers in The Audience has finally arrived…

The Audience cast has been disclosed at the Apollo 

Joining Kristin Scott Thomas as The Queen will be David Calder as Winston Churchill, Mark Dexter as David Cameron, Michael Gould playing John Major, Gordon Kennedy as Gordon Brown, Sylvestra Le Touzel playing Margaret Thatcher, David Robb as Anthony Eden and Nicholas Woodeson as Harold Wilson.

Playing alongside The Queen and the prime ministers is David Peart as the Equerry, Charlotte Moore playing Bobo MacDonald and Private Secretary and Marnie Brighton, Madeleine Jackson-Smith and Izzy Meikle-Small will alternate the part of Young Elizabeth. Harry Feltham and Matt Plumb will play the footmen.

Directed by Stephen Daldry, the updated version of Peter Morgan’s award-winning The Audience will play at the Apollo Theatre from 5 May to 25 July 2015.

The Queen’s relationship with six decades of prime ministers

The play chronicles the relationship between Queen Elizabeth II and the British prime ministers who have served in government during The Queen’s 60 year reign. It is centred on the weekly meetings The Queen has with her prime ministers at Buckingham Palace, spanning from Winston Churchill to David Cameron.

The West End show will run concurrently on Broadway where Helen Mirren, The Audience’s original star, takes the leading role.

Helen Mirren played the leading part when The Audience premiered at the Gielgud Theatre in February 2013. The production earned a series of glowing reviews and great response from the audience.
