It’s all but confirmed that a stage adaptation of the Hunger Games is coming to a new high-tech theatre in the shadows of Wembley Stadium in the summer of 2016

The Hunger Games is planned for the new purpose-built theatre in Wembley

Based on American author Suzanne Collins’ hit trilogy of novels about a bleak dystopic world in which young people are forced to take part in death matches, the action thriller the Hunger Games is being adapted for the stage.

A new 1,300-seat venue will include a 360-degree rotating stage, which will enable audiences to view the action unfolding on stage from every angle. The theatre is part of a massive redevelopment of the area in Wembley.

Suzanne Collins’ trilogy of books was adapted into films, which became huge box office hits, grossing more than $1.5 billion worldwide.

The first two films starred Jennifer Lawrence, who played the reluctant hero of the story, Katniss Everdeen. In the book, the young Katniss Everdeen is forced to fight Peeta Mellark in a deadly televised battle.

The Hunger Games stage adaptation is produced by Robin de Levita, who has won Tony Awards, most notably for his production of the Titanic. De Levita has also won a Laurence Olivier Award for his production of The Who’s Tommy.

Speaking of his excitement to be involved in the stage production of the Hunger Games, Robin De Levita said:

“The theatre is a fantastic medium to bring the many meaningful layers of Suzanne Collins’ writing to life.”

It is expected that the theatre version of the Hunger Games will show at the new high-tech Wembley theatre in the summer of next year.
