The eagerly-awaited announcement of who is to perform in Jeff Wayne’s musical The War of the Worlds has finally been broadcast
A highly distinguished cast heads to the Dominion Theatre in The War of the Worlds
Legendary singer, actor and musician Jimmy Nail will be debuting on the West End as Parson Nathaniel in the musical adaptation of the science fiction classic.
Joining Jimmy in his first appearance on the London stage is much-loved pop star David Bedingfield, winner of the 2004 Brit Award for Best British Male Artist. Bedingfield will play The Artilleryman at the Dominion Theatre next month.
Also performing to West End audiences for the first time is singer sensation Heidi Range, who is playing the character of Beth in The War of the Worlds. Heidi is best known for being in the girl group Sugababes, in which she is the longest-serving member.
Playing alongside these three well-known West End debutants is the legendary David Essex as the Voice of Humanity. West End and Broadway regular Michael Praed is starring as George Herbert in Jeff Wayne’s highly-anticipated musical.
Returning to the Dominion Theatre after her celebrated role as Eva Peron in Evita, Madalena Alberto is stepping into the shoes of Carrie, in what could quite possibly be one of the West End’s starriest of casts!
And that’s before even mentioning the fact Liam Neeson is to make an onscreen appearance in the production as The Journalist!
The new production is produced by Bill Kenwright. It features an iconic score played live on stage by Jeff Wayne himself, who will be joined by his Black Smoke Band and the ULLAdubULLA string orchestra.
This all-star musical adaptation retells the story of H. G. Wells’ science fiction novel The War of the Worlds, which was originally published in 1898 and is widely regarded as the ‘prototype for all science fiction.’
You can watch Jeff Wayne’s The War of the Worlds and its all-star cast at the Dominion Theatre for a limited run from February 8 until April 10, 2016.
