This House
Following two tremendous, sell-out seasons at the National Theatre, James Graham’s hugely acclaimed political drama, This House, is coming to the West End, playing for a limited run at the Garrick Theatre.
This inspiring story is set in 1974 when an economic crisis and a hung parliament drearily blots Britain’s horizons. The House of Commons is beset with a hostile environment, where votes are marginally lost or won, and MPs are so sick they have to be carried through the lobby to register their vote. As swathes of politicians die, the House of Commons rasps under immense pressure.
James Graham’s This House brings politics back to its realities and journeys behind the scenes as MPs bicker and bite and desperately wrestle to change the future of a nation. Described as “Ferociously witty and permeated by a deep sense of the tragi-comic nature of all political systems,” This House presents a powerful perception of politics and the struggle for power.
