Christmas in the West End is going to be more magical than ever as Irving Berlin’s White Christmas is coming to the Dominion Theatre
Aled Jones and Tom Chambers to star at the Dominion this Christmas
Brimming with romance and mischief, Irving Berlin’s White Christmas is based on the 1954 much-loved classic movie, which starred Bing Crosby. White Christmas is based on the story of two former WWII US army buddies who team up with a couple of sisters to put on a show of their life to save a remote ski lodge in Vermont from closing down.
The American composer and lyricist’s White Christmas offers an evening of show-stopping choreography, some of the greatest songs ever written resonating round the auditorium, plenty of laughter and even a few tears – the perfect ingredients for an emotionally entertaining Christmas.
Well-known faces
Former boy soprano Aled Jones will star at the Dominion Theatre, making his West End debut. Aled Jones will play Bob Wallace in the show. The Welsh actor will be accompanied by Tom Chambers, who won the sixth season of Strictly Come Dancing with his partner Camilla Dallerup. The British actor has performed to a West End audience before having starred in Top Hat at the Aldwych Theatre in 2012. Chambers will play Phil Davies in the forthcoming White Christmas production.
A 30-strong cast
Jones and Chambers will be backed up by a cast of 30 highly talented actors and dancers, including Graham Cole as General Waverley, Wendi Peters as Martha, Louise Bowden as Judy Haynes and Rachel Stanley as Betty Haynes. An orchestra of 17 members will belt out some of the world’s greatest songs.
Originally directed on Broadway
Irving Berlin’s White Christmas premiered in San Francisco in 2004. It was originally directed by Walter Bobbie. The show’s premiere at the West End will be directed by Morgan Young. Choreography will be led by American choreographer Randy Skinner.
The show will re-open the newly refurbished Dominion Theatre.
White Christmas will run at the Dominion Theatre for a limited period from November 8, 2014 to January 3, 2014.
