The US singer sensation to make her West End debut in Cats

The former Pussycat Dolls singer will join the cast of the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical when it returns to the West End for a limited run at the end of the year.

A West End debut

The US singer and former X Factor UK judge is ecstatic about being part of Cats in what will be her West End debut.

“I am really thrilled to be making my West End debut in such an iconic show and I couldn’t be more excited,” said Nicole Scherzinger.

“I grew up listening to Andrew’s extraordinary music and was lucky enough, a couple of years ago, to record Cats’ beautiful song Memory. Andrew’s score is breath-taking and I am truly honoured to have been asked to take part in what I know will be a very special time in my career,” added the singer.

An incredible artist with a vibrant career

And we have to admit, Ms Scherzinger has had an extremely colourful and successful career to date. The American artist studied dance and theatre in Ohio. She joined the Pussycat Dolls in 2003, which went on to become one of the best-selling girl groups of all time, selling more than 50 million records worldwide. Nicole has also enjoyed solo success, having sold 16 million records globally. In 2011 the charismatic singer joined the panel of judges on the X Factor UK.

The second longest-running show on Broadway

Cats is based on the collection of whimsical poems known as Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats by TS Eliot. Cats first opened in 1981 at the New London Theatre, where it stayed for 21 years. Running on Broadway for 18 years, Cats became the second long-running show on the history of Broadway, surpassed only by The Phantom of the Opera.

Directed by Trevor Nunn and choreographed by Gillian Lynne, Cats has won several awards, including Best Musical at the Tonys and the Oliviers.

Cats will return to the West End for a limited run at the London Palladium on December 6, 2014. Click here to get your tickets!
